Nacogdoches Defensive Standout Greg Roberts Has Committed to Baylor

Nacogdoches now officially has two Big 12 Conference-bound football players.

ETSN.fm confirmed with Dragons head coach Bobby Reyes that senior defensive end/linebacker Greg Roberts recently committed to Baylor. Nacogdoches offensive lineman Jacob Bragg, a Kansas pledge, told ETSN.fm the same thing.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Roberts had 51 tackles and six sacks as a junior.

Roberts has also received interest from Oklahoma, where his father -- Greg Roberts, Sr. -- won the 1978 Outland Trophy before playing five seasons in the NFL. Roberts will be a cornerstone of Nacogdoches' defense in 2013 from his edge position. Nacogdoches will also rely on veteran middle linebacker Brian Scott to help the Dragons improve on the 37.9 points per game they allowed in 2012.

Roberts is the second player in East Texas' 2014 class to commit to Baylor. Liberty-Eylau athlete Davion Hall committed to the Bears in early February during a junior day visit.

Baylor has also offered the following 2014 East Texas targets: Mount Pleasant receiver K.D. Cannon, Longview defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson (committed to TCU), and Newton athlete Kevin Shorter. In the 2015 class, the Bears have offers out to Whitehouse safety/athlete Justin Dunning, Longview tailback JaMycal Hasty, Troup quarterback/athlete Blake Lynch, Gladewater defensive tackle Daylon Mack, and Sulphur Springs safety Larry Pryor.
