Navy Offers Tyler Grace Senior Kade Clayton

Tyler Grace ATH Kade Clayton. (Christopher Vinn, ETSN.fm)

The third Division I FBS offer arrived Wednesday afternoon for Kade Clayton.

Tyler Grace’s senior standout picked up his latest offer from Navy, which joined SMU and Texas State as the three FBS programs to offer the athletic 6-foot, 180-pounder. Wednesday’s offer was first reported by InsideTexas.com.

Clayton had a monster junior season in 2012 before a knee injury cut short his senior campaign. Clayton got hurt in Grace’s second game of this season, but he ran 27 times for 310 yards and three touchdowns before the injury. He also had three catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.

That came after a huge junior season that saw Clayton run 119 times for 1,511 yards and 26 touchdowns after moving to running back from receiver early in the season. He caught 26 passes for 502 yards and six touchdowns and finished with 69 tackles, five for loss, and two forced fumbles on defense.

Clayton made a splash at the ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine at APEC training facility in May, when he earned Receiver MVP at the event. Clayton was laser-timed at 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash and a 4.09-second pro agility timing. His 40-yard time tied for second among the event’s 100 participants and was best among 20 receivers. His pro agility time was second among the receivers behind Texas A&M-bound Lufkin senior Jamal Jeffery (4.06).
