New Boston’s Jeff Gladney Picks Up Offer from Northern Illinois
Jeff Gladney is the 18th East Texan in the Class of 2015 with at least one Division I college football offer.
The New Boston athlete announced via Twitter that Northern Illinois has offered him a scholarship.
The Huskies aren’t new to East Texas’ 2015 class. The Mid-American Conference power also has a standing offer out for Nacogdoches cornerback Jaylon Lane.
Northern Illinois reportedly wants Gladney (6-0, 174) to play receiver while other interested schools might envision him at a defensive back position. He primarily plays receiver and cornerback for New Boston.
In the Huskies’ case, Gladney is viewed as a tall receiver who can stretch defenses with long-range catches. He’s also a very good blocker against linebackers and defensive backs.
Northern Illinois came one game shy of a BCS bowl game berth last season and received national recognition thanks to quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Jordan Lynch.
The Huskies ranked No. 74 in total passing offense last season in addition to having the fifth-most productive offense in all of college football thanks to Lynch’s running abilities.
