New Boston’s Jeff Gladney Picks Up Offer From Texas State

New Boston's Jeff Gladney picked up his second FBS offer of the week Thursday when Texas State extended the 2015 athlete an invitation to join its program, according to a tweet from Gladney's Twitter account.

Gladney (6-0, 174), who was offered by Rice on Tuesday, has now four total FBS offers. His first offer was came from Northern Illinois on April 8 before becoming a target of UTSA on April 24.

Texas State, which competes in the Sun Belt Conference, has offered one other East Texan in the 2015 class -- Nacogdoches cornerback Jaylon Lane. The Bobcats, coached by former TCU, Alabama and Texas A&M boss Dennis Franchione, were 6-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play last season.

Gladney offers teams versatility. He excelled at both wide receiver and defensive back in 2013, helping New Boston reach the state semifinals for the first time in school history. He had 570 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, and was a first-team all-district selection at DB last fall.
