Newton’s Darwin Barlow Offered By Louisiana Tech

One of the state's top running backs in the junior class picked up his third Division I FBS scholarship offer.

Newton's Darwin Barlow (5-11, 195) announced via Twitter on Wednesday that Louisiana Tech has offered.

Louisiana Tech joined Baylor and Southern Miss as early suitors for the Eagles' standout back.

Barlow was the offensive catalyst for Newton's run to the Class 3A Division II state championship last month. He finished his junior season with 2,246 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns on 205 carries. Barlow also had 14 catches for 189 yards and four TD's.

He is one of two Newton players in the 2019 class with Division I offers. Newton 2019 ATH/CB Tamauzia Brown holds offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Southern Miss.

Louisiana Tech competes in Conference USA and is coached by Skip Holtz. The Bulldogs finished 2017 with a 7-6 overall record, which included a 51-10 rout of SMU in the Frisco Bowl on Dec. 20.

Barlow, like all juniors, will first be eligible to sign with any Division I program that offers in December of 2018.
