Newton’s Darwin Barlow Receives First Offer From Baylor

Newton running back Darwin Barlow became the 15th member of East Texas' 2019 recruiting class to receive Division I FBS scholarship offer Monday morning.

Barlow reported an offer Baylor from his personal Twitter account.

The Bears have now offered two Newton juniors in recent days. Baylor reached out to Eagles CB/ATH Tamauzia Brown earlier.

Barlow is in the midst of a stellar season. He leads Newton with 1,734 yards and 33 touchdowns in 12 games, and has added 117 receiving yards and three more scores.

He can add to that total this Friday night when Barlow and his Newton (12-0) teammates face Waskom (9-4) in the Class 3A Division II Region III championship game. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. from Lufkin's Abe Martin Stadium.

Baylor just finished up a 1-11 season under first-year coach Matt Rhule, but there is plenty of East Texas representation on the roster. The Bears currently have seven native East Texans in their program.

Barlow, like all juniors, will first become eligible to sign with any Division I program that offers him in December of 2019.
