NEW LONDON -- Another game, another mammoth performance by West Rusk running back Nick Ballard. And the Raiders are still undefeated.

Ballard ran for 342 yards on 37 carries and D.J. Hicks scored the winning touchdown in West Rusk's 28-21 win over District 8-3A Division II rival Winona on Friday night.

Ballard had 219 yards on the ground in the first half.

The Raiders (6-0, 3-0) stayed atop the district standings with Waskom, which beat Arp on Friday night. West Rusk raced out to a 21-0 lead, only to see Winona rally to tie the game in the second half.

Hicks scored on a 26-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put West Rusk ahead 28-21. Winona put together a big drive to attempt to tie the game, but West Rusk stopped Quaylon Brown just inches short of the goal line to get the victory.

Dee Wheeler scored two first-half touchdowns to help get Winona within seven at 21-14 after West Rusk jumped ahead 21-0.
