TUESDAY -- Class 3A's No. 4-ranked Spring Hill Lady Panthers wasted no time defeating the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs 25-11, 25-8, 25-18 in District 16-3A play on senior night Tueday.

Arkansas commit Savannah Voelzke dominated, slamming 18 kills to add to her four blocks and three digs. Rachel Riestenberg dished out 26 assists to go along with her three kills to lead the Lady Panthers.

“We’re going to practice really hard, so hopefully that will allow us to come out in the playoffs and play good,” Voelzke said about the postseason.

The Lady Panthers (34-2, 11-0) built an 8-1 advantage in Game 1. Kilgore's Tony Burks and Destiny Washington used several kills and blocks to cut the Lady Panthers' lead to 11-7, but Jacey Fleet took the service line for five consecutive points, including one ace, to extend the Lady Panthers’ lead to 16-7. Kilgore scored only four more points, and Spring Hill freshman Ann Hollas knocked down the game’s final point for a 25-11 win.

The next game Spring Hill used kills from seven different Lady Panthers -- Jasmin Kullenberg, Aly Curtis, Key'Lona Harris, Voelzke, Fleet, Hollas, and Riestenberg -- to grab a 16-4 lead en route to a 25-8 win and 2-0 match advantage.

In Game 3, Kilgore's Taylor Stewart scored three consecutive points, including an ace, to tie the score at 12 apiece. But fueled by Dani Decherd’s three service points, Spring Hill never trailed again. Burks and Washington helped Kilgore pull within three, 19-16, but the Lady Panthers held the lead, allowing Riestenberg to set Fleet for the game’s 25th point.

Hollas had eight kills, while Curtis added five and Fleet had four. Burks and Washington combined for four kills and two blocks for the Lady Bulldogs.

Spring Hill seniors Kullenberg, Decherd, Curtis, Voelzke, and Harris were escorted by their parents and recognized before the match.
