HUNTINGTON -- Senior quarterback Blake Bogenschutz threw five touchdown passes to lead sixth-ranked Carthage to a 55-6 District 20-3A-opening rout at Huntington on Friday night.

Bogenschutz threw two touchdown passes to senior receiver Terian "Tee" Goree and one apiece to senior receiver O'Keeron Rutherford, senior receiver Keldrean Strong, and sophomore tight end Marquise Guinn.

Bogenschutz enters next week's home game against Center with 30 touchdown passes and only three interceptions in the Bulldogs' first seven games of the year. Goree has 17 touchdown receptions, while Rutherford has seven.

Senior tailback Tevin Pipkin added a 70-yard touchdown run, while junior Bryian Bolton also ran for a score. Carthage's Justin Clough returned a botched Huntington onside kick attempt 70 yards for a touchdown.

Carthage is now 6-1 overall and 1-0 in 20-3A, while Huntington is 1-5 overall and 0-1 entering the Red Devils' bye week.
