TENAHA -- A much anticipated showdown between Class A powers turned into a lopsided affair Friday night at Tenaha's Tiger Stadium.

Chavis Gregory and Cobe Caraway powered a Tenaha running game that fueled the No. 6 Tigers' 42-7 rout of No. 9 Alto in a matchup of perennial East Texas Class A powers.

Gregory had 14 carries for 102 yards and three touchdowns, while Caraway added 12 carries for 107 yards. Quarterback J.R. Hill completed 8 of 15 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns, a 38-yarder to Caraway and a 24-yarder to D'andre Thomas.

T.J. Thomas added 38 yards and a touchdown on nine rushes.

Tenaha defensive lineman Denzelle Williams had a big game with five tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Gregory, who also plays linebacker, had five tackles, one sack, and recovered a fumble.

Tenaha's defense smothered Alto's high-powered ground attack. Running back Jacolby Whitaker had 21 yards on seven carries, while quarterback Zac Sturns had 12 carries for 47 yards. Sturns completed 8 of 19 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown.

Anfernee Black led the Yellow Jackets with a five-catch, 130-yard performance that included Alto's lone touchdown.
