TYLER -- Dallardsville Big Sandy gave Tenaha all it could to mount a thrilling comeback in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers held on to book a return trip to Wagstaff Gymnasium at Tyler Junior College.

No. 8 Tenaha got 25 points from Chavis Gregory and the Tigers beat No. 4 Big Sandy, 81-78, in a Class A Division I Region III quarterfinal. Big Sandy, down by as much as 21 in the third quarter, scored 36 points in the fourth but couldn't complete the comeback.

Tenaha missed both free throws and Big Sandy used its final timeout with 0.9 seconds left in the game, but a miracle 3-pointer missed its mark and the Tigers escaped with a win.

Tenaha (20-3) faces No. 2 Grapeland in the regional semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday at TJC. Big Sandy ended its season at 31-5.

Jacoby Ivy added 16 points and J.R. Hill finished with 12 for Tenaha.

Jalen Abbey (27 points) and Benson Williams (26 points) combined for 53 of Big Sandy's 78 points.
