No. 9 Martin’s Mill Headed Back To Regionals Following 76-28 Rout Of Honey Grove

GARLAND -- The ninth-ranked Martin's Mill Lady Mustangs advanced to the regional tournament once again with a 76-28 rout of Honey Grove on Wednesday night in a Class 2A Region II quarterfinal.

Martin's Mill (27-7), which had its run of eight consecutive appearances at the state tournament snapped last season, is now two wins away from reaching next week's state tourney in San Antonio.

The Lady Mustangs will play Santo at 6 p.m. Friday from McKinney North High School in one regional semifinal. The winner will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Windthorst and Bells, at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cheyenne Brown, a senior Northwestern State signee, led Martin's Mill on Wednesday night with 22 points. Hailey Celsur added 15 points, while Briley Moon finished with 12 in the winning effort.

Martin's Mill knocked down 12 3-pointers for the game. Moon had four, while Hannah Celsur, Hailey Celsur and Jocie Bennett finished with two apiece.
