Larry Pryor picked up his eighth offer Thursday evening, and it was another big one.

Sulphur Springs’ junior starting quarterback received an offer from Notre Dame, giving him eight offers to date.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Pryor, who is being recruited primarily as a safety, now holds offers from the Irish, Arkansas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech.

The Notre Dame offer was first reported on Twitter by InsideTexas.com.

Pryor led Sulphur Springs with 118 tackles as a sophomore, but has taken over the quarterback duties for the Wildcats as a junior. He enters Friday night’s home game against Mount Pleasant — a District 14-4A opener — with 1,099 passing yards, nine touchdown throws, and three interceptions. He’s run 67 times for 392 yards and four touchdowns.

Notre Dame has ramped up activity in East Texas.

Pryor is the third player in the region’s 2015 class since Sept. 22 to receive a Notre Dame offer. That day saw Whitehouse safety Justin Dunning get a Notre Dame offer. Then Gladewater defensive tackle Daylon Mack received an Irish offer Oct. 3.

Mount Pleasant senior receiver K.D. Cannon, who is committed to Baylor over almost 30 other offers, also holds a Notre Dame offer.
