Ole Miss Offers Nacogdoches’ Josh Thompson

The offers continue to pile up for East Texas' most recruited senior. Nacogdoches 2017 defensive back Josh Thompson picked up his 28th invitation from a Division I FBS program.

Ole Miss was the latest to target Thompson, the Dragons' playmaker announced via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

Thompson (6-0, 182), who originally committed to TCU before switching to Texas last summer, now holds offers from two SEC programs -- Ole Miss and Missouri.

The Dragons’ standout, who has played both cornerback and safety during his high school career, just wrapped up a stellar senior campaign. He finished with 71 tackles (10 for loss), two interceptions, five passes defended, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.

Thompson had 15 catches for 210 yards and four touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver for Nacogdoches, which finished 2016 with a 4-6 record.

Ole Miss is coached by Hugh Freeze, and is coming off a 29-28 come-from-behind win over No. 8 Texas A&M last weekend. The Rebels are 5-5 overall this season and 2-4 in conference play.

Thompson, like all senior high school football prospects, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
