Saturday was a big day for a pair of East Texas teammates. Nacogdoches 2015 cornerback Jaylon Lane and Dragons 2016 safety Brandon Jones each received an offer from Ole Miss.

For Lane, it was the first high-major Division I FBS offer. The 6-2, 175-pounder had previously been offered by Louisiana Tech and South Alabama. For Jones (6-0, 190), it was the sixth offer and second from the SEC. He also holds offers from Baylor, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Lane and Jones became the second and third East Texans with an offer from Rebels, joining Gladewater 2015 defensive tackle and Texas A&M commit Daylon Mack.

Nacogdoches, which reached the playoffs for the first time since 2006 last season, could field one of the best secondaries and special teams units with both Lane and Jones in the fold this fall.

Lane, who recently transferred from San Angelo Central, had 46 tackles and four interceptions as a junior and averaged almost 46 yards on five kickoff returns, which included a 108-yarder for a touchdown.

Jones, who remains the lone East Texan in the 2016 class with an FBS offer, finished his sophomore season with 95 tackles, five interceptions, one defensive touchdown and two punt returns for touchdowns.
