Almost two dozen golf teams converge on Longview this weekend for the Twisted 54 tournament hosted by Pine Tree.

The event is in its ninth year and is one of only three 54-hole tournaments in the state, according to Pine Tree coach Jody Berryhill.

"We have a great group of teams coming to play," he said. "There have been several state champions and other players with great accolades that play and have played in this tournament."

Wood Hollow Golf Course hosts Friday's first round. Pinecrest Country Club hosts Saturday's second round.

Three players to keep an eye on this weekend are Pine Tree's Bryce Alley, Edmond (Okla.) Sante Fe's Max McGreevy, and Idabel's (Okla.) Nick Stauter.

Alley was the 2012 Texas Legends Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year and has signed with UTSA. McGreevy has been a member of Team USA in the Junior Golf World Cup, has signed with Oklahoma, and has won one state championship. Stauter has won a Class 3A Oklahoma state championship.
