Pine Tree recently lost one of East Texas' top volleyball coaches when Leven Barker left for Carthage, but the Lady Pirates are replacing him with another of the region's top coaches.

The PTISD board approved longtime White Oak coach Carolee Musick as the Lady Pirates' next head coach at Monday's regularly scheduled meeting.

Musick told ETSN.fm Tuesday afternoon that she had officially resigned at White Oak and signed at Pine Tree.

Musick brings a sterling career record of 607-125 to Pine Tree. She led White Oak to four consecutive Class 2A state tournaments from 2009-12, including the 2010 state championship. Under Musick's guidance, the Ladynecks went 40-6 and reached the state semifinals this past fall.

Musick's first season at White Oak was 1994. In her 19 seasons, she led the Ladynecks to six state tournaments, the first coming in 1999 before another appearance in 2007 and the four consecutive trips from 2009-12.

Musick takes over a Pine Tree program in good shape after Barker's departure. The Lady Pirates went 99-24 in the last three seasons, winning 29 matches in 2012, 37 in 2011, and 33 in 2010. Barker led PT to a 147-60 record in his five seasons with the Lady Pirates.
