Alex Jehlen had quite a performance this past weekend in Corpus Christi.

The Pine Tree powerlifter won the Class 4A girls 123-pound weight class state championship with a total of 835 pounds on her three lifts (bench press, dead lift, squat).

Jehlen's total was also enough to secure the "Strongest 123 in the State of Texas" honor, which means her 835-pound total eclipsed all competitors across all five classifications.

Pine Tree, which brought four lifters to the competition, had two fourth-place finishers as well: Francely Lopez in the 114-pound class and Breanna Ingram in the 104-pound class. Megan Wood also competed in the 114-pound class at the state meet.

Lopez lifted 680 pounds on her three lifts, while Ingram lifted 615 pounds on three lifts. Pine Tree placed fourth in 4A in the team competition.

Pine Tree's Eddie Calico, the defending 4A boys state champion, will compete in the state meet this weekend in Abilene.
