Pine Tree's Bryce Alley has won the Player of the Year award from the Texas Legends Junior Golf Tour.

Alley, a senior, earned the honor by accumulating the most points at the tour's tournament events during the course of the year. Golfers ages 15-18 compete in the tour.

"It's pretty cool to think that you beat out every golfer in Texas for that honor," Alley said.

Alley also had a huge year in UIL competition. He won seven tournaments and placed second in two more, qualifying for the Class 4A state tournament in the process. Alley shot a career low and course record 65 at Cypress Hills in Marshall and shot 20-under-par for the year.

"This year I would like to do a little better at state than I did last year," Alley said. "I made it to state and didn't play as well as I wanted to."

Alley has verbally committed to UTSA, an NCAA Division I program, and plans to sign with the Roadrunners next month.
