WILLS POINT -- The second-ranked Martin's Mill Mustangs are headed to the regional tournament after a dominating 73-41 win over Wolfe City in a Class 2A Region III quarterfinal Tuesday night.

Martin's Mill (31-4) will face Dallas Gateway in one regional semifinal at 6 p.m. Friday from McKinney North High School. The winner will advance to Saturday afternoon's regional final with a berth at the UIL state basketball tournament in San Antonio at stake.

Davis Moore had the hot shooting hand for Martin's Mill on Tuesday, finishing with 25 points, which included seven of his team's 11 3-pointers on the night. Logan Jenkins added 12 points, while Hunter Conway and Dylan Weatherford chipped in with 10 points apiece.

 

Hooks Eliminated By Whitewright

PARIS -- The Hooks Hornets suffered only their second loss of the season, 61-43, to No. 12 Whitewright in a Class 3A Region II quarterfinal Tuesday night.

Whitewright (28-4) advanced to the regional tournament at Rockwall-Heath High School this weekend, while Hooks finished its season at 30-2.

Mason Riggins, a 6-9 Long Beach State signee, powered Whitewright with 13 points, 19 rebounds and three blocked shots. Dane Robinson added 17 points (16 in the first half), while Desmond McNeil registered 16 points in the win.

Hooks, which shot just 23 percent from the field and was outrebounded by 12 for the game, was led by Jamall Fort's 19 points. Tanner Hamilton added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
