LONGVIEW -- Texas High capped a 2-0 Thursday performance with a 61-50 win against crosstown foe Pleasant Grove at Spring Hill's JoAnn Sparks Shootout.

Jalissa Trotter's 18 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and five steals led four Texas High players in double figures. Kierra Smith also had a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks.

Texas High, which improved to 5-1 on the season, separated with a 16-0 run to start the second half.

Pleasant Grove (6-3) got a game-high 21 points from Brette Wacha and nine points from Rene Walker.

Texas High's K.T. Davis added 12 points and five steals, while Angel Crump contributed 11 points. LaMonica Morgan had seven points and three steals.

Trotter's first double-double of the day fueled Texas High's 42-40 victory against host team Spring Hill, which fell to 3-2 in the loss.

Trotter came close to a triple-double in this one with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals, while Smith added seven points, 11 boards, and five blocks. Crump had seven points and three steals. Davis scored six points.

Ann Hollas' 13 points led Spring Hill, which got 10 points from Madison Martin.

Spring Hill suffered another close loss to Whitehouse on Thursday. The LadyCats beat the Lady Panthers 44-40.

Whitehouse Tops Hallsville

Ashton Ates scored 21 points to lead Whitehouse to a 54-32 victory in Thursday's action at Spring Hill's JoAnn Sparks Shootout.

Whitehouse went 2-0 on the day with this win and its 44-40 victory against Spring Hill.

Whitehouse's Brooke Stewart scored 12 points against Hallsville, while teammates Kaitlyn Anderson and Madyson Wilkins dropped in six apiece.
