FORNEY -- Courtney Edge recorded a perfect night serving to help Carthage past China Springs in its Class 4A Region III area round matchup Saturday with China Spring at Forney High School.

Edge served 31 times in the match without a single misfire in a 25-18, 25-18, 25-11 victory.

Lady Dawgs setter Kenzie Templeton set up 28 points on assists while Alli Caps led the team in scoring with 12 kills and four blocks.

Edge and Kaitlyn Nutt led the way defensively with 14 digs each.

Carthage will face Lorena in the regional quarterfinal round. The match will be hosted by North Forney High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Alba-Golden Takes Down De Kalb In Four Sets

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Alba-Golden dropped the third set of its Class 3A Region II area round playoff match against De Kalb, but the team rallied in the fourth set for a 25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-20 win at Mount Pleasant High School.

The usual suspects were once again strong for the Lady Panthers.

Caitlin Lennon recorded 25 assists and Brianna Weissert also broke double digits in the category with 12 assists through the four-set match.

CeTara Carter scored a team-best 14 kills. Kaylee Bizzell and Gracie Pendergrass both recorded seven kills to tie for second among Alba-Golden player.

The Lady Panthers will take on Farmersville in the regional quarterfinal round. Terrell High School will host the match at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
