Beckville Performs Well On Final Day in Bronte

BRONTE -- Beckville won two matches and lost one match Saturday in the championship bracket at the Texas Showdown in Bronte.

Beckville (18-4) defeated Blue Ridge 25-18, 25-7, then topped Sterling City 25-16, 24-26, 25-22.

Natalie Morris served up four aces against Blue Ridge and Carson Blair led the way with a team-best five kills.

Cassie Elizondo and Carley Lawhorn led the Lady Bearcats with seven kills each against Sterling City. Kimber Wesner saved 18 points with a team-best in digs.

Beckville was knocked out in the bracket by Lindsey 25-13, 25-21.

Madi Wise, Blaire and Wesner were named to the all-tournament team after the Texas Showdown concluded.

The Lady Bearcats will square off against Bishop Gorman at the Lady Crusader's place Tuesday.

Bullard Tops North Mesquite, Richardson Berkner

FORNEY -- Bullard put up great numbers at the Forney Varsity Tournament on Saturday in wins against North Mesquite and Richardson Berkner as well as in a loss against Ennis.

The Lady Panthers (13-18) initially fell to Ennis, 25-22, 27-25, but rallied for a 25-20, 25-21 victory against North Mesquite and wrapped up the day with a win against Berkner to finish a 4-3 weekend.

Mackenzie Fish led Bullard against Ennis with 10 digs, nine kills and an ace. Rachel Kelly set up 13 points on assists and had a match-best 13 digs.

Sarah Wakefield got the best of North Mesquite with six aces and five digs. Fish had six kills and three aces in that match to lead the team in points.

Bullard topped Berkner in three sets, 25-21, 16-25, 25-14.

Mikaela Good had 14 assists and two aces in the win. Ashtyn Zamazal scored a match-best six kills for the Lady Panthers.
