The first Division I offer arrived Wednesday night for Nacogdoches 2020 offensive lineman Riley Birdwell.

The Dragons' standout reported via Twitter that Stephen F. Austin has offered.

Birdwell (6-4, 330), who took home Offensive Line MVP honors at the ETSN Combine at APEC in Tyler this past May, will likely receive many more Division I opportunities in the next several months.

Last season, Birdwell was part of a rebuilding Nacogdoches team that finished 1-9 overall.

SFA, which is located in Nacogdoches, is an FCS program that competes in the Southland Conference. The Lumberjacks are coached by Clint Conque, and finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 4-7.

Conque, however, was suspended indefinitely by the university in May pending the results of an internal investigation. Jeff Byrd has been named interim head coach.

Birdwell, like all incoming juniors, is first eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December of 2019.
