Six East Texas Teams Competing at State 7-on-7 Tourney in College Station

The Texas State 7-on-7 Association has published its Division I, Division II, and Division III tournament pools for the statewide event this week at College Station’s Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.

Six East Texas teams will make the trip between Thursday and Friday after placing within the top two teams at various 7-on-7 state qualifying tournaments around the state.

The Division III tournament, which consists of Class 2A programs and smaller, begins Thursday at 1 p.m. All Division III teams will be play in a single-elimination championship bracket beginning at 8 a.m. Friday.

In Division II, which features Class 4A and 3A programs, pool play also begins at 1 p.m. Thursday. The top two teams in each pool play then compete in a single-elimination championship bracket that starts at 9 a.m. Friday.

All the third-place teams will be seeded based on points scored, points allowed, or a coin flip, and the top eight will also compete in the championship bracket. The rest will go to the consolation bracket, a single-elimination format that begins at 8 a.m. Friday.

The Division I tournament, home to Class 6A and 5A schools, begins at 1 p.m. Friday. The top two teams from each pool advance to the single-elimination championship bracket, which starts at 9 a.m. Saturday. The third- and fourth-place teams play in the consolation bracket — also single elimination — at 8 a.m. Saturday.
