ELKHART -- Slocum made quick work of a Carlisle team just beginning its basketball season after a trip to the Class 2A Division I regional championship round of the football playoffs.

The Mustangs rolled, 70-28, at home and elevated their overall record to 11-5. The Indians fell to 0-3.

Junior guard Jacob Lane scored on four 3-point attempts in the contest and led Slocum in scoring with 18 points. Alex Maldonado finished close behind with 14 points.

Max Jackson's 11 points led Carlisle in defeat.

The Indians have an opportunity to finish 2016 on a high note before breaking for winter vacation. They'll visit Lufkin Pineywoods Academy today at 3 p.m.

Slocum will return to action Dec. 29 to be part of the Glen Rose tournament field. Its day one opponents will be Waco Robinson and Dallas Samuel.
