John Tyler head football coach Ricklan Holmes confirmed with ETSN.fm on Wednesday evening that 2014 defensive back Terry Ausborne has received his first offer.

SMU recently offered Ausborne, who started at safety for the Lions during their 13-2 Class 4A Division I state semifinal run this past fall. The offer was first reported by PonyStampede.com.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Ausborne finished tied for second on the Lions' defense in 2012 with 86 tackles and led JT with six interceptions. He also had one fumble recovery.

Ausborne will be John Tyler's top returning tackler in 2013. Ausborne will join 2015 cornerback Isaac Warren (6-1, 161) as the proven players in John Tyler's secondary. Warren had an interception and two forced fumbles last season.

Fellow 2014 safety Greg Johnson (5-11, 170) also gained some varsity playing experience last season and will be depended on to play a larger role in JT's defense this fall.
