Pine Tree Edges Corsicana 1-0 Thanks to Late Goal

LONGVIEW -- Devin Assenheimer scored with 18 minutes remaining off an Amanda Cabrera assist to lift Pine Tree to a 1-0 victory in Friday's match at the Lady Pirate Tournament at Pine Tree Stadium.

The win gives Pine Tree a 2-0 record entering Saturday's 11:30 a.m. matchup against Whitehouse. Corsicana fell to 2-1 with the loss.

Corsicana gained an 8-7 advantage in shots, but Pine Tree kept the Lady Tigers off the board thanks to quality play from goalkeepers Brittany Hollis and Kaiti Lawrence, who combined for six saves.

"I felt like it was the kind of game we needed to see," said Pine Tree coach Daniel Rich. "Corsicana was very physical. Those type of teams tend to give us problems. I was proud of how the team responded and pushed through for a victory."
