TEXARKANA -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs improved to 8-1 on the season with a 4-0 shutout of Pleasant Grove on Friday.

Samantha Clakley stuck out seven and scattered four hits in seven shutout innings.

Kacey Maines and Teah Reese were each 2-for-4 with a triple, double and RBI to lead Carthage offensively.

Gilmer Goes 2-0 in Longview

LONGVIEW -- The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to earn a 5-4 win over Queen City at the Longview Tournament on Friday.

Shaylee Fennell finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the seventh inning that helped send the game to extra innings for Gilmer.

Gilmer (7-4) also defeated New Diana 12-3 on Friday. Fennell got the win on the mound and tripled in two runs in the Lady Buckeyes' three-run third inning.

Arp Splits Games in Longview

LONGVIEW -- The Arp Lady Tigers split their two games at the Longview Tournament on Thursday -- defeating Paul Pewitt 14-0 and losing to DeKalb 6-5.

In the win over Paul Pewitt, India Holland went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the way. Kaleigh McClure had two RBIs, while Sierra Atchley, Mandy Alibrando, Hanna McLeod and Kylee Johns all had two hits.

McClure and Holland combined on four shutout innings, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts.

In the loss to DeKalb, McLeod went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Arp at the plate. Atchley, Alibrando and Megan Campbell also had two hits in the losing effort.

Frankston Through to Big Sandy Tourney Title Game

BIG SANDY -- The Frankston Indians advanced to Saturday's championship game of the Big Sandy Tournament with an 11-5 win over Cushing on Friday.

Jordan Thomas starred both on the mound and at the plate for Frankston, which improved to 2-0 on the season after a 16-1 defeat of Waskom on Thursday. Thomas struck out five, while collecting two hits with two RBIs and two runs scored. TJ Brumley also had two hits and two RBIs in the winning effort.

Frankston will face host Big Sandy at 6 p.m. Saturday for the title.
