HENDERSON -- Texas-bound Henderson pitcher Tiarra Davis tossed a gem Friday in a key District 16-3A softball matchup against Gladewater.

Davis struck out 19 and held No. 7 Gladewater to one hit on fifth-ranked Henderson's 2-0 victory.

Henderson (18-7, 7-1), the defending Region II champion, got an RBI double from Natalie McQuiston that scored Davis. McQuiston then scored on a Jessica Thomas RBI single to give Davis all the run support she needed.

Gladewater fell to 24-2 overall and 7-1 in 16-3A play.

Whitehouse Run-Rules Corsicana in Six Innings

CORSICANA -- Whitehouse blasted four home runs to beat Corsicana 14-4 in six innings in Thursday's District 16-4A meeting.

Ronnie Fountain, Brooke Brady, Morgan Downs, and Kelsey Fairbanks each had an RBI single in the LadyCats' seven-run sixth inning, which included Autumn Crymes' two-run home run. Crymes also had a fourth-inning RBI single.

Fairbanks (first inning), Brady (fourth), Kaylee Hedricks (fourth), and Crymes (sixth) accounted for Whitehouse's four long balls.

Fairbanks allowed four runs on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk to get the win in the circle.

Corsicana took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before Whitehouse took command of the game with a big fourth inning.

No. 21 Winnsboro Downs Edgewood

WINNSBORO -- Kim Jongsma and Brenda Jongsma combined in the circle to lead 21st-ranked Winnsboro to a 3-2 win over Edgewood on Thursday.

Kim Jongsma allowed two runs on six hits in six innings before Brenda Jongsma got a 1-2-3 save against the top of Edgewood's order in the top of the seventh.

Kim Jongsma, Victoria Jones, and Reigann Barnhart each had an RBI single. Barnhart's came on a bunt that plated Kim Jongsma.

The win improved Winnsboro to 14-6-1 overall and 5-4 in district play entering Thursday's game against Quitman.

Tyler Grace Notches Two Three-Inning Victories

TYLER -- Tyler Grace dominated a doubleheader against Carrollton Prince of Peace, needing only three innings in each game to garner 17-0 and 18-3 victories Thursday.

Grace's Taylor Kingsley allowed no hits with three strikeouts and one walk in the shutout victory. She also had two RBIs and scored three runs.

Hannah Wright, Fallon Roberts, and Chelsea Clark had a double apiece for Grace, which accumulated 10 hits and nine walks. Clark had a team-high four RBIs. Wright also tripled and knocked in two runs. Gabby Ballow had two RBIs, while Roberts, Haley Evans, Kylee Stanley, and Brooke McClenney had one RBI apiece.

Grace scored five first-inning runs, four in the second, and eight in the third.

Grace's Sarah Smith and Maddie Parker had three RBIs apiece in the 18-3 victory. Kingsley and Kandice West combined to walk seven times and score six runs. Wright and Stanley, who had two RBIs, each had two of the Lady Cougars' nine hits. Ballow and Sarah Barnes each had two RBIs. Kristen Mayfield had one double and one RBI.

Kingsley got the win, allowing three runs on five hits with one walk.

Grace drew 16 walks to accompany its nine hits. The Lady Cougars led 5-2 after one inning and 11-3 after two innings before scoring seven third-inning runs.
