South Florida Offers Lufkin’s Javasia Brunson

South Florida head coach Charlie Strong seems to be making an effort to recruit his old stomping grounds. On Friday, the Bulls offered two East Texas athletes.

One of them was Lufkin 2019 defensive end Javasia Brunson (6-4, 235), he announced via Twitter.

South Florida also offered Panthers 2020 safety Jerrin Thompson on Friday.

Strong, who went 10-2 overall and 6-2 in American Athletic Conference play in his first season at USF, coached the Texas Longhorns from 2014-16.

The Lufkin defensive end was previously offered by Oklahoma State and SMU.

Brunson finished 2017 with 25 tackles, two for loss and three sacks for a Lufkin team that advanced to the regional final. He is 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. Lufkin finished the season with a record of 11-3.

Like all juniors, Brunson is first eligible to sign with any team that offers him beginning in December 2018.
