Once upon a time, John Tyler and Lufkin shared the same district. Then, Lufkin was sent south to join a Houston-area district. After that, JT dropped in classification to 4A, creating further separation between the longtime rivals.
For the second consecutive season, Palestine was bounced from the playoffs in the first round by a quality opponent -- Carthage after losing to Waco La Vega in 2011.
There doesn't appear to be too much separation between District 15-3A's top tier of teams, which could make for an exciting race to the district championship this fall.
