A team that returns 18 starters and went two rounds deep in the playoffs is always a threatening prospect. More so if that team's name is San Augustine. The program has been well above .500 since 2011 despite last year's sometimes challenging 5-7 run, and this might be head coach Donald Hubbard's most potent version of the Wolves yet.

Competition should bring out the best in teams, and there's no shortage of competition in West Sabine's District 10-2A Division I. Some early season tuneup games and difficult late non-district games against Deweyville and Hull-Daisetta should have the Tigers feeling pretty good in their run for another district championship.

Fans in Union Grove have reasons to be excited this season. The Lions look like they have a team under third-year head coach Roger Adams. The program returns 17 starters from a young squad that did enough to clinch a playoff berth last year despite sharing a rough district with Arp, Frankston, Hawkins, Garrison and Winona.

The Indians are a program to definitely look out for entering the 2014 season with 14 returning starters from a playoff team a year ago. With running back Kelvin James and quarterback Brandon Kemper back in the lineup for their senior season, the sky is the limit for Groveton's offense.
