HALLSVILLE -- It was a tale of two halves Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium. Fortunately for the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets, they played their best once when it mattered. Elysian Fields used a 29-0 second-half run and the legs of junior Kyree Ratliffe to overcome a 15-point halftime deficit and defeat the Paul Pewitt Brahmas, 36-30, in their Class 3A Division II Region II bi-district matchup.

LUFKIN -- Scott Surratt coached his 34th career playoff game for Carthage on Saturday night, so he's experienced enough to know that the only thing that matters this time of the year is the final score.

LONGVIEW -- Tatum became one of just three five-loss teams state-wide in the Class 4A Division II playoff bracket to advance out of the bi-district round with a 49-15 drubbing of Bullard at Pine Tree's Pirate Stadium. PARIS -- The duo of Chase Musgrove and DeQuan Allen carried the Atlanta Rabbits to a 62-47 victory over Melissa in their Class 4A Division II Region II bi-district playoff Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.

LINDALE -- A frantic fourth-quarter comeback attempt by Sulphur Springs fell shy in a 52-47 loss to seventh-ranked Ennis in their Class 5A Division II Region II bi-district playoff Friday night at Eagle Stadium.

BULLARD - It would be hard to pinpoint the biggest play for the Brook Hill Guard in the fourth quarter of its 35-34 victory against Houston Northland Christian Friday night at Herrington Field. It could have been quarterback Grant Hanks’ 20-yard scramble on fourth-and-16 from the Brook Hill 31-yard line to set up the touchdown that tied the game at 28 with 9:45 remaining in the game.

MESQUITE -- The Athens Hornets walked out of Mesquite’s E.H. Hanby Stadium on Friday night with a 47-27 win over the Pittsburg Pirates.

HALLSVILLE -- Gilmer defeated the Pleasant Grove Hawks, 50-7, in Friday's 4A Division II bi-district meeting at Bobcat Stadium in Hallsville.
