MESQUITE -- John Tyler handed Dallas Jesuit its worst loss of the season, 69-21, Saturday at Mesquite's Memorial Stadium in the area round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs. The Lions' reward is a Region II semifinal date against Klein Collins at 2 p.m. next Saturday inside Baylor's McLane Stadium in Waco. Collins, exactly like John Tyler, lost one regular season game by one point.

FAIRFIELD -- Tenaha wracked up 339 rushing yards and scored seven touchdowns on the ground Friday in a 76-0 rout of Meridian.

WYLIE -- Deundre Wheeler set a school record with 340 rushing yards and five touchdowns in Winona's 51-12 rout of Leonard in their Class 3A Division II, Region II area-round playoff Friday night. Winona (7-5), which won its first playoff game since 1987 last week, advanced to the regional semifinals...

BULLARD -- Carlisle scored 35 unanswered points Friday at Brook Hill's Herrington Stadium to end Cayuga's season, 42-21, in the Class 2A Division I area round. The Indians overcame a 14-7 deficit after one quarter of play largely thanks to quarterback Tristan Craig. He ran in two scores and passed for a third as part of the 35-point spree.
