WINONA -- Destiny Brooks knocked down six 3-pointers and scored 22 points to lead Gilmer to a convincing 58-33 win over Brownsboro, Friday in their Class 4A Region II area-round playoff. Gilmer (31-3), ranked No. 12 in the latest TABC rankings, will face unbeaten and fifth-ranked Tatum (32-0) in the regional quarterfinals next Tuesday back in Winona with a berth in the regional tournament at stake

KAUFMAN -- Tyler Lee's breakthrough season under first-year coach Ross Barber came to its end Thursday in a 52-36 loss against Dallas Skyline at Kaufman High School. Although the Class 6A area round defeat was disappointing, there weren't a lot of tears in the game's aftermath.
