Another East Texas team tries its luck at a weekend 7-on-7 football state qualifier tournament.

Ten East Texas programs have qualified for state 7-on-7 football tournaments next month.

John Tyler came close to qualifying for the Division I 7-on-7 football state tournament this past weekend, but didn't quite nab a state berth.

BULLARD -- Eight teams played a total of eight games in Monday's weekly 7-on-7 football league in Bullard, and half of those games went to overtime.

GILMER -- After losing in last year's 7-on-7 state qualifying semifinals, Gilmer and White Oak brought a chip on their shoulders to this year's event.

TYLER -- Longview has had off-and-on performances during its weekly Monday night 7-on-7 football league at Lobo Stadium.

An eight-team Division II 7-on-7 state qualifier tournament starts with pool play at 9 a.m. Saturday at Gilmer High School.

Tyler's Lindsey Park hosts a Division I 7-on-7 state qualifier tournament Saturday starting at 9 a.m. with pool play.
