TYLER -- For the sixth time in eight seasons, Carthage will play in the state semifinals.

Behind another huge offensive performance spearheaded by senior quarterback Jarod Blissett, Carthage beat Silsbee 56-40 for the Bulldogs' third playoff win in four years against the Tigers in Friday night's Class 4A Division I Region III championship at TMF Rose Stadium.

The Carthage Bulldogs shocked the Texas high school football world with a 55-48 upset of defending Class 4A Division I state champion Navasota last Friday night.

And while the contributions came from a variety of players, the X-factor may have been sophomore running back Keaontay Ingram, who helped Carthage rally from a second-half deficit.

Ingram finished the night with 198 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries, earning ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week honors. He follows last week's winner, Lamon Hillis of Paul Pewitt.

Behind a 28-point second-half outburst that helped Carthage erase a 14-point third-quarter deficit, the Bulldogs delivered the knockout blow to Navasota's 28-game winning streak and hopes at repeating as the Class 4A Division I champion with a 55-48 victory in an instant classic at Lamar University's Provost Umphrey Stadium in Beaumont.

Carthage is rarely an underdog. Since 2007, head coach Scott Surratt and the Bulldogs are 33-4 in the playoffs. Carthage reached that mark with a 34-0 victory over previously unbeaten Stafford, setting up a third-round playoff matchup with defending state champion Navasota.
