For the past month, the anticipation steadily built. Where would GIlmer 2015 cornerback Kris Boyd go to college? He provided the answer Friday afternoon.

Boyd, along with friend and fellow 2015 defensive back Holton Hill of Houston Lamar, offered up his verbal commitment to Texas. The two drove to Austin this morning, and made their decision via live online video stream.

Texas A&M Offers Gilmer’s Demarco Boyd

With older brother Kris Boyd scheduled to make his college commitment official Friday, one of the two schools vying for his services reached out to Demarco Boyd on Wednesday night.

Gilmer's Kris Boyd, who will be deciding between Texas and Texas A&M, tweeted the news that A&M made an offer to Demarco Boyd, a 2016 Buckeyes linebacker, the same night Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin and staff made an in-home visit.

Gilmer’s McLane Carter Commits To Incarnate Word

East Texas' most prolific passer during the 2014 season has finally found a college home.

Gilmer 2015 quarterback McLane Carter tweeted that he committed to Incarnate Word on Tuesday evening, ending what had become an interesting last few weeks of recruitment.

GILMER -- Immediately following a hard fought win against Gilmer in the 2014 Macy Chenevert Patriot Classic last month, Bullard knew it would have its hands full facing the Lady Buckeyes in district play.

Gilmer came up just short of evening the season series, a 37-34 victory for Bullard in District 16-4A play.

TYLER -- Bullard was a quarter away from playing in a consolation game at the Macy Chenevert Patriot Classic and, more importantly, blinking against a District 16-4A foe.

But eight minutes turned out to be more than enough time Tuesday morning at UT-Tyler's Herrington Patriot Center.

LONGVIEW -- The 2014 Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Volleyball Team was  released on Dec. 24. The team was selected by Texas Sports Writers Association members based on nominations from media members and coaches from around the state.

Several players from East Texas earned statewide recognition.

ARLINGTON -- For 24 minutes, the undefeated and heavily-favored Gilmer Buckeyes were beaten like they'd never been beaten all season.

But they weren't beat.

Gilmer's two less-heralded units -- defense and special teams -- quickly turned the tide in the second half, and the offense took over from there, delivering the Buckeyes their third state championship with a 35-25 win over West Orange-Stark in the Class 4A Division II final in front of 14,953 fans Friday afternoon at AT&T Stadium.

ARLINGTON -- Two years removed from a hard loss to Navasota, the Gilmer Buckeyes returned to the postgame championship interview room podium to discuss their latest state title game.

This time as Class 4A Division II champions.

The best of more than 80 teams statewide in the division. The third of three state championship teams in school history, dating back to its first win in 2004.
