Carthage Wins Warm Up Game Against Gilmer

GILMER -- Carthage visited the Gilmer Lady Buckeyes on Tuesday for a warm up game prior to the softball playoffs beginning Thursday.

The Lady Dogs won the game, 1-0, with a solid outing from pitcher Samantha Clakley. Carthage's starter allowed three hits, two walks and one hit-by-pitch through seven full innings of work.

GILMER -- It just doesn't feel like important baseball in Texas until Old Man Winter makes one final stand in mid-April.

With the dash for the playoffs and seeding officially ushered in with temperatures returning to the mid-40s at Matt Campbell Ballpark, Spring Hill withstood a gutsy comeback attempt from Gilmer and took control of District 16-3A.

ORE CITY -- Elysian Fields run-ruled Ore City, 21-0, Tuesday for its third District 17-2A win in three games.

The Yellowjackets are now 9-9 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Elysian Fields' Keely Howard and Jane Harris combined for six strikeouts, two hits and two walks in the five-inning game.
