East Texas had two teams make their season debuts in this week's Associated Press top 10 polls following impressive Week 5 performances.
Both Atlanta and Van improved to 5-0 on the season last Friday night, and each team moved up two spots in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 4A poll.
LONGVIEW -- Carthage dominated time of possession, out gained Gilmer by 92 yards, put up 16 more first downs and got whopped 58-21 in the two teams' non-district finale Saturday at Longview's Lobo Stadium
KILGORE -- The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes opened District 16-4A play with a five-set victory over Kilgore on Saturday, 25-17, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-11.

The Gilmer Buckeyes, fresh off a 61-9 rout of Daingerfield that improved them to 4-0 on the season, moved up to two spots to No. 3 in this week's Associated Press Class 4A poll.
The Tatum Eagles responded to a tough home loss to Gilmer two weeks ago with a resounding 41-14 win over Liberty-Eylau in their first road game of the year last Friday night.
LUFKIN -- The John Tyler Lady Lions remained perfect in District 16-5A play with a 25-17, 25-23, 14-25, 25-13 win over Lufkin on Tuesday night.
Despite suffering their first losses of the season over the weekend, John Tyler and Lufkin did not drop too far in this week's Associated Press Class 5A poll.
The Gilmer Buckeyes needed a touchdown pass in the final seconds to knock off Tatum last Friday, and hold onto to the No. 1 spot in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 4A poll.
