There were several changes for East Texas schools in this week's Associated Press high school football poll.
With two more impressive wins, Gilmer and Gladewater remained in the top two spots of this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 4A poll.
GILMER -- It took the Gilmer Buckeyes nearly two months to play a game in front of their home crowd at Buckeye Stadium.
Home, away, neutral field, it doesn’t seem to matter.
GILMER -- The Lady Buckeyes didn't have many issues en route to a 3-0 sweep of Kilgore in Tuesday's District 16-4A game, a 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 win.
Gilmer advanced to 14-19 overall and 4-2 in district play. It's creeping closer to a .500 record and there's no doubt in Upshur County the team has turned a corner. The Lady Buckeyes had to hold Kilgore off in five sets just three weeks ago.
There were hardly any changes this week among East Texas teams ranked in the Associated Press high school football poll.
Seven of the top 10 scored wins last Friday night, and the top seven spots in the ETSN.fm East Texas Class 4A poll remained unchanged in this week's rankings.
GARY -- The fourth-ranked Beckville Lady Bearcats survived a scare from No. 11 Gary, but prevailed in five games, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 15-8, Tuesday night in District 20-2A action.
A pair of East Texas teams climbed into the top 10 in this week's Associated Press Class 4A poll.
With nine of the 10 teams in the ETSN.fm East Texas Class 4A enjoying their bye week last Friday, there was little change in this week's rankings.
WHITEHOUSE -- The LadyCats moved to 23-10 and 6-0 in District 16-5A play Friday with a 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 sweep of Lufkin.
