WHITEHOUSE -- Tanner Roach ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Whitehouse Wildcats defeated the Hallsville Bobcats, 28-15, in the season opener for both teams Friday at Wildcat Stadium.

Whitehouse (1-0) scored on its first three possessions, capping drives of 75, 21 and 80 yards with rushing touchdowns from Roach and Clayton Cook. Cook finished with a team high 16 carries for 117 yards, seeing a majority of the carries after fellow running back Javian Miles suffered an injury and did not return.

Hallsville (0-1) sputtered out of the gate but late in the first half quarterback Peyton McGarvey drove the Bobcats 76 yards on eight plays, capping the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Chris Kuler. The point-after attempt was blocked, leaving the score at 21-6 with under five minutes remaining in the half.

Bobcats second-string quarterback Tyree Davis finished off a six-play, 60-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run with 7:38 remaining, but the Bobcats could get no closer.

Roached capped the scoring with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Seth Dolan with one second remaining in the third quarter. Defensive back Isaac Little set up the score after intercepting a McGarvey pass and returning it 25 yards to the Hallsville 21.

Whitehouse continues non-district play next week when it takes on Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at Cristus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
