One day after the biggest game of his high school career and five days before his team plays for the state championship, Carthage junior running back Keaontay Ingram received some good news.

Ingram (6-0, 198) picked up his first Division I FBS scholarship offer Sunday evening from TCU, he announced on Twitter.

The Carthage standout became the fifth East Texas player in the 2018 recruiting class to receive an FBS offer, and the second to get an invitation from TCU, joining Marshall offensive lineman Chasen Hines.

Ingram has been the primary catalyst on offense for Carthage's run to Friday's Class 4A Division I state title game.

He comes into the game against Abilene Wylie, scheduled for 4 p.m. from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, with 2,045 yards and 29 touchdowns in 14 games. Ingram also has 43 receptions for 452 yards and two scores.

Ingram scored the game-winning touchdown in the Bulldogs' dramatic 26-20 triple overtime win over China Spring on Saturday. He ran for 172 yards, including all 25 of his team's yardage in the third OT period, with two touchdowns on 27 carries.

The Bulldogs back has rushed for at least 100 yards in all but one of Carthage's games this season, and has amassed 821 yards and 12 touchdowns in the playoffs.

TCU is no certainly no stranger to recruiting the East Texas area. The Frogs currently have two area commitments in the 2017 class, Henderson's Trestan Ebner and Lakendrick VanZandt.

Gary Patterson has been the head coach at TCU since 2000, and has guided the Horned Frogs to 149 wins, six conference championships, and nine bowl wins. TCU finished 6-6 overall and 4-5 in the Big 12 this season, and will face Georgia in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 30.

Ingram, like all college football prospects in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in February of 2018.
