Texas High Claims or Shares Three of 14-4A All-District Girls Basketball Team’s Top Five Honors

A pair of sophomores headed the superlative contingent for district champion Texas High on the 14-4A all-district girls basketball team.

Texas High sophomore Chanell Hayes was named Most Valuable Player after leading the Lady Tigers in scoring en route to a 25-4 record and Class 4A Region II first-round playoff appearance. Classmate Jalissa Trotter shared Defensive Player of the Year honors with Pine Tree sophomore Sky Holmes, who helped the Lady Pirates to a first-round playoff appearance.

Texas High's Vince Minter was named Coach of the Year.

Mount Pleasant junior Ledaisha Gillard and Sulphur Springs sophomore Desi Debase shared Offensive Player of the Year accolades. Hallsville freshman Elisha Leathers was named Newcomer of the Year.
