One of the area's top sleepers in the 2017 recruiting class finally received his first Division I scholarship offer.

Crockett WR/DB Lucky Daniels (5-10, 175) announced via Twitter on Wednesday night of an offer from Texas Southern.

Daniels, who has had a major impact in all three phases of the game this season, is a versatile athlete that could be utilized on either offense or defense at the next level.

So far in 2016, Daniels has found the end zone eight times -- twice on receptions, three times on rushing attempts, two interceptions for touchdowns, and one punt return for a score.

Daniels has helped lead Crockett to a 5-1 start to the season. He has made 12 catches for 290 yards, rushed 26 times for 174 yards, and collected more than 30 tackles with the two interceptions and four passes defended.

At the fourth annual ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine in Tyler this past May, Daniels was one of the event's participants. He ran a laser-timed 40-yard dash in 4.70 seconds, and tied for first among receivers with 11 bench press reps at 185 pounds.

Texas Southern, an FCS member located in Houston, competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The Tigers are currently 3-2 on the season, having won their last three games.

Daniels, like all senior high school football players, will become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in February.
