MABANK -- The Tatum Eagles began the season with a 69-62 overtime win over state-ranked Peaster on Thursday.

Tatum (1-0), ranked No. 23 in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, was led by Jalan Horne, who scored 24 points. Devonte Alexander added 20 points in the win.

Peaster, the No 7-ranked team by the TABC in 3A, was led by Connor Turan, who finished with 23 points.

Tatum is back in action Monday at Longview.

Bullard Takes Two Wins At Saltillo Tournament

SALTILLO -- The Bullard Lady Panthers earned two wins Thursday at the Saltillo Tournament.

Bullard (5-0) defeated Paris Chisum, 51-31, and took a 36-35 decision over Winnsboro.

In the defeat of Chisum, Lexi Kirgan led the way with 23 points. Lauren Zachry added 10 points in the victory.

Kirgan scored 18 points in Bullard's one-point win over Winnsboro.

 

Harmony Takes Down Christian Heritage

UNION GROVE -- The Harmony Eagles began the season with a 46-23 victory over Longview Christian Heritage on Thursday at the Union Grove Tournament.

Harmony (1-0) will next play either Union Hill or McLeod at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the winner's bracket.

Dalton Brenner led the Eagles with 15 points, which included a 3-for-4 performance from beyond the 3-point line. Bentley Miner added 11 points and seven rebounds in the winning effort.

 

Troup Downs San Augustine Girls

TROUP -- The Troup Lady Tigers earned a 45-31 win over San Augustine on Thursday.

San Augustine (1-2) was led in defeat by Jazmine Watts, who finished with nine points and 10 rebounds. LaTavia Edwards added seven points and 10 boards in the losing effort.

The Lady Wolves return to action Dec. 2 at home against Mount Enterprise.
