Thursday Basketball Roundup: Grace Boys Down Bullard + Big Sandy Girls Top Beckville

BULLARD -- Bullard's Major Tennison scored a game-best 22 points, but a combination of all-around play guided Tyler Grace Community to a 55-44 win at the Brook Hill Tournament.

Garrett Tauscher scored 18 points for the Cougars, Johnny Spitzer added 14 and Nic Foreman rounded out Grace players with double-digit score figures in the game.

Tauscher made two 3-pointers in the game, shot 8 of 10 from the free throw line and recorded three assists.

Spitzer made three shots from behind the arc and ended three Panthers possessions on steals.

Grace's Caleb Culver picked up eight rebounds in the game as well as eight points and three assists.

The Cougars will play host Brook Hill today at 8 p.m.

Girls Basketball

BIG SANDY -- Beckville fell, 51-43, to host Big Sandy on the first day of the Ladycat Tournament.

Suhmer Mitchell scored a game-high 23 points for Big Sandy.

Beckville's Kimber Wesner picked up a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The two teams will continue in the tournament today and Saturday.
