LONGVIEW -- Tyler Lee got on the winning side of things in a big way Thursday at Longview's Lobo Tournament with wins against Marshall, Gladewater and Nacogdoches.

The Lady Raiders are now 3-1 on the season.

Lee topped Marshall in two straight sets.

Jamie Mills led the way with three kills and an ace. Gensis Borens and Claire Newberry both recorded a team-best five assists.

The Lady Raiders topped Gladewater, 25-9, 25-7, with an all-around pleasing performance.

Claire Himes aced eight serves to lead the way in scoring. Alexa Winfrey wasn't all that far behind with four aces.

Libero Taylor Winchester kept the team out of any severe struggles with 13 digs, an early season-best.

Lee eased by Nacogdoches in two sets, 25-11, 25-9.

Himes, Mills and Emily Starr all had five kills in the match. Boren put up 17 assists as a season-best.

 

Lindale Slips Past Henderson

LONGVIEW -- Lindale wrapped up a nice day at the Lobo Tournament with wins against Henderson and Longview's junior varsity team.

The Lady Eagles' game against Henderson went the distance and then some in a three-set win. The team topped the Lady Lions, 25-22, 22-25, 26-24.

Rhyan Rand led Lindale in the win with 12 kills, seven digs and two blocks. Travicia Acy chipped in 10 kills and three aces in addition to two blocks.

McKenna Cox played a huge role with 20 assists.

Other notable performers were Elizabeth McLaughin with seven kills and Brittany Birdsong and Rajel Flores with seven or more digs apiece.

Lindale eased by Longview's junior varsity team, 25-16, 25-19.

Cox had 11 assists and Acy recorded eight kills in that game.

 

Beckville Finishes Second In Pool

LONGVIEW -- The Lady Bearcats finished their Thursday at the Lobo Tournament with a 2-1 record.

Beckville fell to Pine Tree, but it got the best of Lufkin and Jefferson to advance to the gold bracket.

Kimber Wesner gave Pine Tree a run for its money with 32 digs in a match lost 15-25, 25-23, 19-25.

Cassie Elizondo made her presence known against Lufkin, a 25-9, 25-20 win, with eight kills while Kassidy Alexander put up 14 assists. Carley Lawhorn had four aces in the match.

The Lady Bearcats defeated Jefferson 25-7, 25-7.

Servers were clicking for Beckville. It finished the game with 15 aces and 18 kills. Alexander had 11 assists in the match.

 

White Oak Continues Early Roll

TYLER -- White Oak got past Tyler All Saints in five sets, 24-26, 19-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-5.

The Lady Trojans (1-2) were led by Frances Hackney's 31 assists and Ferrell Clyde's 11 kills.

Hackney and Sydney Barrett both recorded 16 digs in the match.

Stats from White Oak's win were not submitted.

Both of All Saints losses have come in the fifth set, but the bad taste doesn't have to last long.

The Lady Trojans will play in the Van Tournament on Friday. Their first opponent will be Harmony.

 

 Bullard Wins Four Matches

GARY CITY -- Bullard went unbeaten in four matches at the Gary Tournament and has started the season 6-0.

The wins came against Elysian Fields, Union Grove, Overton and Union Hill. Only the game against Union Grove required a decisive third set.

Bullard topped Union Grove, 24-26, 25-9, 25-9.

Macenzie Fish recorded 11 kills on 21 attempts, Sarah Wakefield chipped in three aces, Katie Cole saved 18 points on digs and Rachel Kelly led the team with 16 assists.

The Lady Panthers defeated Union Hill, 25-8, 25-7.

Fish had three aces and four kills in the match. Sarah Wakefield tied the team-best in aces with three of her own while Kennedy Key tied the kill count with four. Kelley had nine assists.

Bullard then took on Overton and won the match, 25-15, 25-12.

Cole had the best overall performance with 10 digs and six aces. Kelly recorded 15 assists and Fish scored on nine kills.

The Lady Panthers capped off their perfect day with a 25-16, 25-17 win against Elysian Fields.

Fish recorded seven kills and two aces. Kelly once again led the team in assists with 10.

Bullard will put its unbeaten record on the line against Troup on Saturday.
