The John Tyler-Nacogdoches series has been very one-sided, but the Dragons finally have some traction under head coach third-year head Bobby Reyes.

Nacogdoches is a team to be reckoned with, and its 2014 defensive backfield could be the best in the entire nation with four starters garnering attention from college football programs.

The District 16-5A finale on Nov. 7, ETSN.fm's No. 24 game of the 2014 season, will be a talent festival and have major playoff implications whether the two teams have clinched a postseason spot or not.

The Dragons boast a secondary featuring more than 60 college football offers, mostly between Jaylon Lane (38) and Brandon Jones (26). They are the leaders of their respective East Texas graduating classes in terms of football scholarship opportunities.

But John Tyler will test that back end to its limits. Geovari McCollister, a Central Arkansas commitment, is a strong quarterback with plenty of aerial weapons to choose from behind a great running game and strong offensive line.

Lions receiver Rodney Bendy committed to North Texas in June and the corps is supplemented by several other players that could move on to the next level.

John Tyler running back Jeremy Wilson will be the fastest player on the field, he ran a 4.41 laser-timed 40-yard dash at the 2014 ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine.

The Lions also have a formidable defense headlined by Purdue defensive back commitment Isaac Warren. He's a 6-1, 187-pound cornerback anchoring his squad's own standout secondary.

Jaylon Reese, Jassavia Reese and Braylon Jones add a lot of meat along the front seven.

Nacogdoches receivers Ken Rogers and Tae Thomas should be good targets for quarterback Hunter McClellan and its strong running game should keep John Tyler's defense honest through the game.

Neither side has an overwhelming strategic advantage and, with a loss, it could be a team's last game of the season after going through one of Texas' best districts.
