After witnessing their East Texas rivals Longview and Lufkin travel east to Shreveport to take part in the Battle on the Border showcase the last couple of seasons, John Tyler has chosen to do the same.

The Lions will battle Warren Easton, a program from New Orleans, on Sept. 10 at Independence Stadium in the first of three games that Saturday.

It checks in at No. 9 on ETSN.fm's list of the top 25 games of 2016.

John Tyler will take a talented team across the border, which features several Division I recruits.

Offensively, the Lions will be led by quarterback and Houston commit Bryson Smith, receiver and Texas pledge Damion Miller, along with sophomore wideout Ke'Andre Street, who could be hearing from colleges in the not-too-distant future.

On the defensive side of the ball, JT will feature junior linebackers Tre Allison and DeKalen Goodson, and senior cornerback Javonta Mosley, who has committed to UTSA.

For John Tyler, the game will be the final non-district game before it moves on to District 11-6A action.

Warren Easton finished 12-2 last season, ending the year with a 44-36 loss to Monroe Neville in Louisiana's Class 4A state semifinals.
