The most anticipated boys high school basketball game of the season so far takes place Tuesday night when District 17-2A rivals Tatum and White Oak face off in White Oak.

The Roughnecks (19-1, 3-0) are ranked No. 2 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, while Tatum (19-6, 3-0) enters the colossal matchup at No. 5.

White Oak dropped from the No. 1 spot in the poll after losing to Kountze, the new No. 1, in the championship game of the Tenaha Holiday Hoops tournament.

Tatum is coming off a 59-45 win over Waskom last Friday. Robbie Rockwell had a game-high 18 points for the Eagles, while Cole Hughes and Jahee Johnson each added 10.

The Roughnecks buried Elysian Fields, 88-16, last Friday. Skylar Sutton led White Oak with 18 points, while guard Kris Anderson added 15.

The two meet again on Feb. 1 in Tatum.

Another big matchup Tuesday night is a matchup of ranked teams in Class A Division II. No. 5 Laneville (15-6) plays host to No. 13 Douglass (16-5). Also in 1A, Tenaha (ranked No. 23 in Division I) takes on Roxton (No. 1 in 1A D-II) on the road.
