COMMERCE -- The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes made the trip to the regional tournament for the second consecutive season with the hopes of making amends for its 28-point loss to eventual state champion Argyle.

Gilmer got its rematch in the 4A Region II semifinals Friday night at The Fieldhouse on the campus of Texas-A&M Commerce, but left the arena with similar results.

No. 1 Argyle lived up to its billing and delivered a 65-39 knockout punch, eliminating the Lady Buckeyes for the second-straight year.

Argyle (32-1) will meet Dallas Lincoln (30-4) at noon Saturday for a berth at the UIL state tournament in San Antonio next week, while Gilmer ended its season at 26-9.

Gilmer fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter, but pulled to within four points, 13-9, and entered the second period facing a seven-point deficit.

That's when Argyle went on an all-out assault, outscoring Gilmer 24-8 to open up a commanding 40-17 lead at halftime. The lead swelled to as much as 33 points in the second half, in which the Argyle starters played sparingly.

Foul trouble plagued Gilmer at the outset as Argyle reached the double bonus before the end of the first quarter, and attempted 17 free throws by halftime.

Junior forward Vivian Gray led Argyle with 19 points -- 17 in the first two quarters -- and added four rebounds and five assists. Madison Ralston added 12 points, which all came in the first half.

Jocelyn Pierce chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds, and Gabby Standifer knocked down two of Argyle's three 3-pointers and finished with eight points.

Gilmer struggled offensively for much of the night.

The Lady Buckeyes' biggest contributors came from the bench. Non-starters Kyla Grant, Megan Smith, and Augusta Hampton combined for 21 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.

Grant was Gilmer's high scorer with nine points, while Smith finished with seven.
